Baby's Due Date*
Legend has it that the Chinese gender predictor chart was found over 700 years ago in a royal tomb near the Chinese city of Beijing. Based on Chinese astrology, the Chinese gender predictor method is said to be up to 90% accurate but, as it’s not scientifically proven, don’t plan your gender-reveal party just yet! Are you ready to try it?*
This tool relies on the Chinese lunar calendar, which divides the year according to the different phases of the moon and sun. The following two values are gathered and converted into dates on this calendar:
- the age of mum-to-be when the baby is conceived
- the date of the baby's conception
Then, the dates are cross-checked on the chart to come up with the gender prediction.
Ready to try it? Simply enter your information in the table. Once you click "Predict your baby’s gender," you'll get your answer. As easy as that!
Predicting a baby's gender continues to be a popular and enjoyable part of pregnancy, with many theories, formulas, and tricks on how to most accurately determine a baby's sex.
Proponents of this method suggest that the Chinese gender predictor chart is one of the more accurate ways to guess whether you are having a boy or a girl, compared to its gender-predicting competitors, such as the types of pregnancy cravings (sour for boys, sweet for girls). In reality, though, it has only a 50/50 chance of being correct, so don't plan your gender-reveal party just yet!
The Chinese Gender Predictor tool is simply for fun! Always consult your healthcare provider for reliable and accurate medical information.
If it’s too early to have your second-trimester ultrasound, and you want to have some fun, go ahead and use our Chinese Gender Predictor tool. There’s a 50% chance it’ll be correct but, as there’s no scientific evidence to back it up, don’t rely on the answer it reveals! Your 20-week scan will give you a more accurate result or you can wait until you meet your little one in person!
At your 20 week scan you may be able to find out the sex of your baby. If you want to be told, you should ask the sonographer at the start of the scan, so they know that they need to check. Some hospitals may refuse to tell you sex of the baby. Speak to your sonographer or midwife to find out more.
If your sonographer cannot see the baby’s genitals, you could pay for a private scan another day, or you might have the opportunity to find out if you have another scan later in pregnancy.
